Mirror, mirror. Who’s that on the wall?

It was a case of double vision at the National Portrait Gallery yesterday when the subjects of a new painting popped in. Cristiano Di Martino and his dog Gina sat for a piece now in the running for the BP Portrait Award: they’re on posters all over London and Gina has been treated like a star, as dogs are not usually allowed in the gallery. We hope she doesn’t become a diva.
