Nicky Haslam’s mad musical debut

Bob Geldof spoke highly of Nicky Haslam and his new album Midnight Matinee at the launch last night at the interior decorator’s new flat in Cromwell Road. “It’s a mad confection, just like Nicky himself,” said Geldof. “It’s a bizarre mixture of talents that work very well together. I was at a dinner the other evening when the album was being played. Everyone stopped talking and started listening.”

Haslam was looking trim, having reduced his waist measurement from 34 to 32 inches so his chinos could slip down and reveal his Calvin Klein underpants.

Was this a fashion statement? “It’s a mainstream modern thing to do,” said style guru Peter York.
