One bursting pipe after another

Leak: crowds were doused by the burst pipe at a menswear show Picture: @Pause_Mag

Pipes are bursting all over town. First there was one that burst over the audience at Oliver Spencer’s London Collections: Men show, then another sent water cascading over the red carpet at the Golden Globes. Even the National Gallery is suffering. At the start of the month a pipe above the Sainsbury Wing cloakroom burst, covering staff and visitors’ possessions.

A spokesman for the gallery confirmed it was quickly fixed. “Five coats got wet as a result, which the National Gallery has offered to pay to clean or replace.” However, my source at the gallery says there’s more to come as cuts have affected the standard of maintenance work. Umbrellas for all the paintings?
