One step forward, two steps back for Michael Moore

What a busy day Lib-Dem MP Michael Moore had yesterday. During the afternoon he was dismissed as Secretary of State for Scotland and saw his salary halved from £134,565 to £66,396; later, as one of the eight politicians who belong to the Privy Council sub-committee which has apparently rejected the newspaper industry’s proposals for self-regulation, he had to attend the meeting which made that decision. You can forgive his mind for wandering, having just suffered the shock of the sudden lowering in his status and accompanying salary drop. Incidentally, Moore is one of two MPs with a Scottish seat on this key sub-committee. Wales and Northern Ireland politicians are not represented at all.
