The Observer’s Henry Porter’s review of Nick Davies’s book on the Murdoch empire, Hack Attack, laments the invasion of privacy he claims pervaded Andy Coulson’s time as News of the World editor, noting how the paper “broke people’s lives to push sales”. Quite so. But what’s this? “Andy Coulson, a married man, had a long affair with his boss, Rebekah Brooks (the demonic pillow talk between these two was sadly never properly explored in the court case).” There’s surely nothing as private as whispered confidences between lovers?
