Poor Opik Lembit is going to the dogs

4 September 2013

Spotted: Lembit Opik at a bus stop outside Waterloo station yesterday. Since losing his Montgomeryshire seat in 2010, the former Lib-Dem MP made an unsuccessful bid to be the party’s nominee for London Mayor in the 2012 election. He is now associate director (training) at Leadenhall Consulting.

Opik has taken part in various stunts but none so painful as when he was judging a charity dog show in aid of Guide Dogs in Lambeth Park last month — he was bitten in the privates by a sausage dog. He may have still been in shock yesterday because he boarded his bus with an empty Oyster Card. The driver gently pointed out the machine next to him as he ordered the hapless ex-MP off the bus.
