Rausing should stop tinkering with Granta, says outgoing editor

John Freeman, outgoing Granta magazine editor, co-hosted a party at his New York flat last night for BookExpo America. There was no sign of Granta owner Sigrid Rausing, spotted earlier in the day on the convention floor, but Sir Salman Rushdie made a toast to America’s indie booksellers as defenders of free speech. “Sigrid bought a Ferrari,” said Freeman of Rausing’s purchase of Granta in 2005. “There’s no point lifting up the hood and tinkering with it as if it were a Honda.”
