Skinheads fail to curry favour

The skinheads return, but the modern generation has been quick to put the boot in. Curator Toby Mott has a new exhibition entitled Where Have all The Bootboys Gone? Skinhead Styles and Graphic Subculture at the London College of Communication. The university’s diversity officer has objected saying that though Mott may think it’s a misunderstood culture, black people who experienced skinheads knew what was going on.

Another lecturer has noted that timing of the show, which opens tonight during Black History Month, might not have been wise. “I don’t understand the objection,” says Mott. “I thought everyone loves skinheads. They are as British as chicken korma.”
