Speedsters top the menu at Goodwood

To Goodwood for the annual Festival of Speed, involving vintage motors, the latest supercars and Honda off-road bikes. Cartier held its Style et Luxe concours d’elegance, with early Mercedes, classic Maseratis and Mustangs on the lawns below Lord March’s house near Chichester, while visitors included celebrity chef Marcus Wareing, pictured with his wife Jane.

Judges included actor and writer Rowan Atkinson and portrait artist Jonathan Yeo, who spotted that Atkinson didn’t sign many autographs while he was out in the crowd. “Lucian Freud gave me a tip once,” said Yeo. “Always sign at the top of a blank page. Sign at the bottom and who knows what you might be putting your name to.”
