Thandie Newton stood up for women across the world with a celebratory V-sign at the London Rising launch party at Café de Paris. The event was held in aid of anti-violence against women campaign One Billion Rising.

It is part of the V-Day movement started 15 years ago by playwright and activist Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina Monologues. Sitar player Anoushka Shankar and Ensler herself joined Newton on stage. Labour MP Stella Creasy cheered from the floor.
