Not even London is immune to the American government shutdown. It is playing havoc with the new US Ambassador Matthew Barzun’s social life. Tatler was due to host a party tomorrow night at the Connaught to welcome the new US Ambassador to London with the promise of “many pyramids of Ferrero Rocher in circulation”. Now a missive has gone out announcing Tatler editor Kate Reardon won’t be spoiling anyone just yet.

“Ambassador and Mrs Barzun are no longer able to attend on Tuesday, so sadly we are postponing the event,” says Jennifer George of Condé Nast. “Sorry for any inconvenience. We will let you know when we have a new date.” Excellente.
