When Jo Johnson queered the Tories' pitch on Labour's behalf

Jo Johnson may have been elevated to David Cameron’s inner circle but he has batted for the other side. The talented cricketer, said to be an unplayable bowler, once gave a stellar performance during a Tories v Labour match — but he had to lend his skills to the wrong team.

Tim Shipman, Daily Mail deputy political editor, tweeted: “(Peter) Oborne [cricket-mad Daily Telegraph political columnist] gave Tories’ best player to Labour. JJ got 4 wkts & 40 runs.”

Benjamin Wegg-Prosser, Lord Mandelson’s former adviser, was one of Johnson’ victims. “All I can recall from game is D Mili bowling charging in at D Cam. Only time they’ll face each other....,” he tweeted wistfully.
