New digits: Ken Livingstone
28 March 2012

When Boris Johnson took over at City Hall four years ago, his trusty PA and gatekeeper Ann Sindall - who has been with him since Spectator days - went through his mobile phone and deleted the numbers of all but his closest friends and colleagues.

It looks like Labour have decided to take similarly drastic action to prevent their man from turning up unannounced – and off message - on the Today programme or in the Londoners’ Diary. They have removed his mobile for the duration of the short campaign and issued him with a new one. The number has been withheld from journalists.

It will be interesting to see if Labour’s attempts to control Ken work. It hasn’t exactly been the most successful strategy in the past. - PC
