'Finance devolution for London'

The chairman of Boris Johnson’s finance commission is preparing to lobby the main political parties to include more financial devolution for London in their 2015 election manifestos.

Professor Travers, of the LSE, told the London Assembly he aimed to convince the policy chiefs, saying: “Efforts have to be made to ensure that the idea of more devolution is embedded in the party manifestos.”

He said that he would also rely on Mr Johnson’s own powers of persuasion, adding: “The Mayor is a powerful and influential person.”
