The race for Knitty Hall - the London mayor candidates ... in wool

Woolly-headed mayoral candidates have us all in stitches
1/5

Just as enthusiasm for the Mayoral candidates seemed on the brink of unravelling, Heather Brown has worked wonders with knitting needles to create woollen figures that bear a striking resemblance to Ken Livingstone, Boris Johnson, Brian Paddick and Jenny Jones.

It takes eight to ten hours for the 35-year-old, who lives in Camden, to make each figure. She thought about including independent Siobhan Benita but did not have enough time.

Heather is married to Matt Brown, editor of londonist.com, a website about goings-on in the capital. She started knitting figures seven years ago and her favourites include a doll of Sherlock Holmes.

Matt says Heather also makes lovely scarves but the woollen figures are everyone’s favourites. However, the talented knitter would not reveal who she is going to vote for in the election.
