Pilot films view of London from the skies and landing at Heathrow airport

Amy Ashenden13 February 2016

A pilot has captured a view of London “from the best seat in the house” as his plane lands at Heathrow Airport.

The pilot, who gave his name as ‘JB’, works for a major UK carrier and shot the footage when flying into Heathrow runway 27R on an afternoon shift.

He said: “I would say the approach to London Heathrow Airport over the city is definitely one of the best approaches, especially at dusk when the city starts to light up.”

The video shows the pilot’s view from above the clouds and descending over the capital to the Heathrow runway.

The Mancunian, who has 20 years of flying experience, is based at the airport and said he flies “in and out of Heathrow four to five times a month – all long haul, destinations all over the world.”
