Actress Bianca Jagger today apologised after accidentally tweeting a link to a webpage carrying vile racist, sexist and anti-Semitic content.

The former-model posted the link to a page which describes various parliamentarians as “Jew”, “Jewess”, “Negro” and “infamous homosexual”.

She uploaded the link stating it was a list of MPs who voted for the Iraq War, asking followers to “read it carefully and understand why they want [Jeremy Corbyn] out”.

But after offensive content was drawn to her attention she deleted her original post and tweeted: “I’m terribly, sorry for posting a despicable tweet by mistake, I posted it at 4.15 in the morning and didn’t properly read its content.”

She then added: “I’m mortified, I thought it was a list of members of Parliament who voted against the war in Iraq. You all know I am against racism, bigotry.”

Her original post linked to a page on the Metapedia website, an online encyclopedia that users can edit.

Metapedia describes itself as focusing on “culture, art, science, philosophy and politics” which fall outside the mainstream.

The page Jagger’s post linked to lists MPs, claiming them to have voted for the Iraq War, but next to their names carries offensive descriptions.

Labour MP Louise Ellman, who has complained about rising anti-Semitism in the Labour party, is described as a “Jewess”.

Baron Boateng, the UK’s first black Cabinet minister, is referred to as a “Negro”. While Labour Peer Oona King is called a “Judeo-Negress hybrid”.

Chris Bryant MP, who recently resigned from the Labour frontbench, is called an “infamous homosexual”, on the page.

Commons Speaker John Bercow, one of the Conservative MPs listed, is referred to as a “Jew” and “known for promoting homosexualism”.

After Jagger posted her original tweet her followers, who had read the page carefully, urged her to take a closer look.

Guardian writer Hadley Freeman posted: “Have you actually read the racist, sexist and homophobic link you’re sharing? You’re better than this Bianca.”

Journalist Sunny Hundal wrote: “I think you should delete this tweet.”
