David Cameron was accused of double-standards by Labour today after he protested at cuts in his local county council.

The Prime Minister said he was “disappointed” by a list of possible cuts in a letter to Oxfordshire Council leader Ian Hudspeth.

Mr Hudspeth replied that the council’s grants from government have fallen from £194 million a year in 2009/10 to £122 million this year but pressures had grown.

A spokesman for shadow chancellor John McDonnell said: “This is typical of Cameron - saying one thing in public and another in private.”
