Tory backbencher Justine Greening has said Brexit "will not be sustainable" if it does not work for young people, ahead of a final vote in the House of Commons.

The former education secretary, who resigned her post after Theresa May attempted to reassign her to the Department for Work and Pensions, told the Commons future generations could "improve or undo" current plans.

She said: "The bottom line is that looking ahead if Brexit doesn't work for young people in our country, in the end it will not be sustainable.

"When they take their place here they will seek to improve or undo what we've done and make it work for them.

"So we do absolutely have a duty in this House to look ahead and ensure that whatever we get is sustainable and works for them."

MPs are set to vote on the third reading of the EU Withdrawal Bill at around 7pm on Wednesday evening.

A successful vote would push the Bill forwards to a debate in the House of Lords.

Mrs May is not expected to suffer the kind of rebellion she faced in December, when a group of Tory MPs joined Labour to demand a "meaningful vote" on any final deal.
