Liberal Democrat security staff were not amused as a young man appeared to drop his trousers while lining up for a selfie with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

The Liberal Democrat leader was visiting today Solihull College as part of his campaign tour when he was approached by a student

The teenager’s trousers then appeared to slip revealing his black boxer shorts. An eagle-eyed photographer captured the moment but it remains unclear whether or not it was a deliberate attempt to ‘moon’ Mr Clegg or an innocent mistake.

Mr Clegg, who originally appeared willing to pose with the boy, hurried off quickly after the apparent prank, and his stern-faced security team were anything but impressed.

The incident marked a bizarre end to the visit, during which Mr Clegg was forced to refute claims his part was facing annihilation in the West Midlands region ahead of next week’s election.

“We’re increasingly confident,” he said.

“It’s what Liberal Democrats do, we always defy the odds and we will do it again.”
