Theresa May is to appear alongside her husband Philip in what will be his first broadcast appearance.

The Prime Minister's husband, 59, has kept a low profile since Mrs May won the keys to 10 Downing Street last year.

But on Tuesday he is to be thrust into the limelight, appearing alongside the Prime Minister on the BBC's The One Show.

A Conservative source was quoted by The Times as saying an appearance on the prime-time programme was "the holy grail" for politicians.
