Singer Katharine McPhee revealed that Prince Harry and her husband David Foster have a “really, really beautiful relationship”, which she described as being “like father and son.”

McPhee, who went to the same school as Meghan Markle growing up, spoke about the couple’s relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and touched on how they reconnected after she began working in London.

Speaking to Access, McPhee explained that she and Markle (who she said was “always really put together”) used to do musicals together when they studied at California school Immaculate Heart together.

Though they weren’t close at school due to being in different years, McPhee ended up landing the lead on the West End in Waitress between 2018-2019. She said this led to Foster and Prince Harry hitting it off while she and Meghan picked up where they left off.

She explained, “When I was in London doing Waitress, we went to a big charity event. Me and David put ourselves in a position where [Prince Harry and Meghan] could at least say hello”

“My husband has a really beautiful relationship with Harry. They’re so cute, they’re like father and son,” she continued.

McPhee explained that they’ve since stayed in contact with them and said, “Meghan and I knew each other from childhood, but really Harry and my husband are friends.”

McPhee previously shared a throwback picture of herself and Meghan at school together, grinning for the camera in costume and make-up.

She explained at the time in the caption, “Meghan and I did musicals together as kids. She grew up to be the Duchess of Sussex and I grew up to star on the West End, so same life if you ask me.”

Foster is widely believed to have helped the Sussexes settle temporarily in Canada, where they celebrated Christmas and New Year together and lived prior to stepping down as senior royals.

After McPhee was asked about their role in the move, McPhee said, “I had very little to do with that. David’s the resource guy, he knows all the places. He loves to help people.”

At the time, Foster explained that he was “honoured that I was able to help Meghan”, especially as he grew up in a ”commonwealth country”. He said of their stay in Canada that it was “invigorating for them to spend some downtime”, where they are believed to have stayed with Foster’s friend Frank Giustra.

Foster told Daily Mail, “I was just happy through my friend to facilitate what I could for them, and it looked like they had a great rest. They're a young modern family. I'm sure they want to balance their commitment to the crown and be a 2020 family."

The Sussexes moved to California early on in the outbreak of coronavirus in Canada and the US, moving from Vancouver Island to Los Angeles (where Meghan grew up and her mother Doria Ragland lives). They are believed to be staying temporarily in Hollywood producer Tyler Perry's mansion and are celebrating their second wedding anniversary today.

McPhee said of their Los Angeles move, “We just want them to end up wherever they feel safest and happiest and you know... We just hope they end up somewhere really where they just settle down.”
