Amazon is launching new products to enable a delivery service where couriers enter your house to drop off a package.

The online retailer is looking to bring an end to the days of missed deliveries and neighbour drop-offs – and its solution is tech that lets you keep track of who’s coming and going in your home.

The service, called Amazon Key, is being launched across various cities in the US, with Amazon’s American site selling the Amazon Key In-Home Kit.

The bundle includes Amazon’s own Cloud Cam – a connected smart camera – and a compatible Yale smart lock.

The products connect to an app, where users can set their doors to be unlocked at certain times of the day or for certain people. Users can opt to set it up themselves, while Amazon also offers free installation.

As well as allowing couriers to enter the home, with the Cloud Cam recording a video of the delivery, the service is designed to grant access to the likes of dog walkers, cleaners, family and friends without them needing their own physical key.

In-Home Delivery is free for Amazon Prime members. There’s no information currently about a UK launch for the service.
