Fans of the hit Netflix series Black Mirror have reacted with mock hysteria after Pizza Hut revealed its plans for a self-driving delivery van.

Eagle-eyed viewers pointed to the third episode of the dystopian show's most recent series, Crocodile, which features a self-driving pizza truck.

Pizza Hut revealed plans for its "driverless pizza delivery vehicle", designed in collaboration with manufacturer Toyota, on Monday.

The official Black Mirror account quickly chimed in, sharing the pizza giant's post with the caption: "We know how this goes."

Crocodile tells the story of a woman forced to confront her past after police use futuristic technology to interrogate her over the death of a man hit by a driverless pizza truck.

Pizza Hut replied via Twitter shortly after, saying "Nah, we aren't Fence's", the name of the fictional pizza firm featured in the show.

Fans of the show had a lot to say about Pizza Hut's latest development:

The car manufacturer has recently teamed up with Pizza Hut, Amazon and Uber to develop a host of 'e-Palette' driverless vehicles.

The Japanese auto giant hopes to debut its latest design at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The Evening Standard have reached out to Pizza Hut and Netflix for comment.

Toyota declined to comment.
