With the World Cup fresh in our memories, we all remember how much fun it was to be in the pub, watching the football and roaring 'it's coming home' with joy in our hearts.

Celebratory moments aside, watching sport in public sometimes isn’t all it's cracked up to be.

If it’s crowded you can’t see the screen very well, the sound isn’t great with all the chanting so you miss important moments and let’s not forget the risk of being covered in someone else’s warm pint.

Taking all these factors into account, it’s no surprise that new research by EE shows that more than half of Brits prefer to watch sport at home with their friends, instead of in the pub.

This is one of the reasons EE is improving its BT Sport offering. A new offer from the phone company will allow customers to cast BT Sport content from their phone to their TV for free.

Perfect for when you are at home, wanting to watch a big game, customers can now simply cast the live action from the BT Sport app to your TV using Apple TV or the Google Chromecast, at no expense to your data.

The offer is available for free for three months. But, if you can’t live without it after that, you can pay an extra £10 a month to enjoy access to the app and the ability to cast it to your TV.

Max Taylor, managing director of EE, said: “Watching the sport you love has just become a whole lot easier for our customers who can now cast the best live action from BT Sport straight from their phone to their TV.

“With the first three months access to the app for free and the data on us, sports fans no longer need to crowd around a small screen or go on expensive pub trips to watch the game if they don’t want to.”

EE’s research also showed that 15 per cent of people would be more likely to continue a friendship with someone just because they had a good sport TV package, so if you want to impress your mates this is one way to do it.
