This summer, KFC is rolling out a series of creative experiences and discounts, including the KFC Bucketverse VR Experience pop-up.

The limited-time event will take place in Hysan Place shopping centre, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, from August 17 to 20, between midday and 9pm every day, where participants will be able to sit inside a huge, oversized KFC bucket to play a virtual-reality (VR) game.

The aim of the game is to catch as many virtual flying chickens as many as they can in a digital KFC world.

Players have the chance to win a $60 (£47) KFC cash voucher as a gift. What’s more, the better you do, the more you can win.

Taking a picture with a KFC-themed 3D backdrop and sharing on social media can also win visitors more vouchers.

“We want to invite Hong Kongers into another dimension to take a brief break from hectic city life and embrace a world of creativity and fun,” said Janet Lau, marketing director for KFC Hong Kong. “Everyone deserves a Krispy Break and, through this campaign, we hope to show how the KFC brand is here to provide exactly that.”

“The game is designed to be fun-filled and slightly addictive – much like KFC’s delicious fried chicken,” added Amy Cheng, Edelman’s creative director. “It’s great when a brand actively asks for innovative ideas outside of traditional communications, and the Bucketverse is a demonstration of this.

“Our partnership with KFC keeps welcoming different ideas and we hope this new form of Finger Lickin’ Goodness amplifies their brand promise to more fried chicken lovers around the city.”

While at the moment this pop-up appears to only be in Hong Kong, you never know when a similar VR-fuelled game could come to the UK and London restaurants.
