Regent Street creates its own social centre with online hub

Shoppers can connect with their favourite shops and restaurants after Regent Street opened up its own online community.

Any mentions of the area on social networking sites, including Twitter and Facebook, will appear on the hub — enabling visitors to share their experiences with others or local businesses. More than 100 shops, restaurants, cafés, bars and hotels including Liberty London, Whole Foods Market and Reiss, are now connected to the website.

It is the first project of its kind where retailers, a shopping destination and the public can come together and integrate all their social media in one place.

Those signing in can also integrate other accounts with photo-sharing sites, such as Instagram.

Belle Toor, social media manager at restaurant Sketch, which is also connected to The Regent Street 24/7 hub, said: “It is a great way of connecting with your community, with your neighbours and those visiting you. It has already started bringing more people to us. It is a unique idea.”

Set up by The Crown Estate, the hub was launched this week.

David Shaw, head of Regent Street Portfolio, the Crown Estate, says: “We are delighted to offer shoppers and visitors from all over the world a new way of engaging and enjoying their Regent Street experience.”
