Samsung is releasing two Galaxy A-series phones in a variety of colours that sit firmly in the mid-budget range. Both handsets arrive on Wednesday, March 15.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 comes in two variants, with either 128GB or 256GB storage capacity, which cost £449 and £499 respectively. It is available in four eye-catching colours, including violet, lime, graphite and white.

If that’s out of your budget, there is also the Galaxy A34. The cheaper handset starts at £349 for the 128GB model, and £399 for the 256GB variant. It also comes in four colours, including violet, lime, graphite and silver.

Notably, both phones have microSD slots that allow you to bump up the storage to a sizeable 1TB. However, the pricier versions may still be a good shout as they come with 8GB of RAM, compared with 6GB on the base models.

As it did with its flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung has slightly raised the price of the new A34 handset as last year’s model cost £329.

In terms of design, the main difference between the two phones is in the selfie camera: the pricier A54 uses a smaller punch hole snapper, while the cheaper A34 has a slightly more prominent notch instead.

However, the Galaxy A54 has a 6.4-inch display, whereas the A34 goes bigger with a 6.6-inch panel — both pack respectable 120Hz full HD resolution and amoled screens.

The Galaxy A54 is powered by the Exynos 1380 processor, and a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging. It has three cameras on the rear (50MP, 12MP and 5MP) and a 32MP on the front.

The Galaxy A34, on the other hand, uses the Dimensity 1080 chipset with the same 5,000mAh battery. The rear camera boasts 48MP, 8MP and 5MP sensors, and the selfie cam has a 13MP sensor.
