Nifty wireless earbuds by the likes of Apple and Sony may be top of every Gen-Z’s wish list (or GoFundMe page) but you can’t beat a decent pair of headphones.

This year already Bose released a new pair of wireless headphones, the Bose 700 Noise-cancelling headphones, while Sony is rumoured to be releasing and update to its beloved WH-1000XM3 cans at IFA this week.

Not one to miss the headphone memo, is German audio company Sennheiser, which is using the annual Berlin tech conference to update its high-end Momentum headphones.

This is the third version of its Momentum headphones, bringing together Sennheiser’s impressive sound prowess and noise-cancelling tech into a good looking pair of phones. New to this year’s version is a voice assistant button to access help from Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa or Siri, just set it up in the Smart Control app.

According to research consultancy Counterpoint, more and more consumers want AI voice assistants in their wearable tech, so it’s a good move for Sennheiser to introduce this with the new Momentum headphones.

The Auto On/Off feature means the headphones turn on when you unfold them and connect instantly with your device, turning off when they’re folded up. It’s a slick move. As well, the integration of Smart Pause uses proximity sensors to pause a song or podcast when you take the headphones off, and starts again when they’re in place.

There’s a button to switch between calls and audio too. A switch to USB-C charging means you can give them a boost with your standard phone cable - unless it’s an iPhone of course.

As well, there’s additional cushioning on the headband and the earcups are slightly bigger too, to ensure they’re comfortable during long periods of use. The transducer, which converts the signal into sound in your era, is bigger thank in the previous generation at 42mm, to balance the depth and precision in the audio you listen to so they sound great. With the noise-cancelling function, you can switch between total noise-cancelling or transparent hearing, so you can hear a train announcement without having to take your headphones off.

And don’t be afraid of losing them - for the first time Sennhesier has integrated Tile’s bluetooth tracking technology so if you misplace them, you’ll be able to locate them with your smartphone.

The new Sennheiser Momentum headphones are available to buy now in black for £349.99, while a sandy white colour will be available in November.
