This all-in-one travel onesie could ease the pain of flying economy

A onesie that features a blow-up hood to envelop the head and a “snooze cap” to cover the eyes could make travelling economy a little more bearable.

Onepiece, the east London company behind the Inflatable Travel Jumpsuit, says it could mean an end to the horseshoe-shaped pillows seen dangling from backpacks at airports.

The company has launched a crowdfunding campaign and raised nearly £100,000 so far with six days to go.

The onesie, made from soft sweatshirt material, contains 15 design quirks aimed at making travelling more comfortable. It is being offered for about £100 for early backers.

Features include an inflatable neck pillow and “helmet” — both blown up by mouth. These can be hidden snugly inside the onesie’s fabric hood.

A flip-down “snooze cap” folds out from inside the hood to cover the eyes, “creating complete darkness to help you drift off peacefully”. There is even a discreet zipper on the back of the jumpsuit, which Onepiece says “allows you to use the bathroom without taking it off”.

An additional sleeping mask can be strapped to the headrest of the wearer’s train or plane seat to stop them falling forward when they nod off.

They have the further choice of adding a “double hood zipper” to close an entire flap over their face “for complete privacy”, with “breathing room around your nose and mouth”.

The wearer can also pull their sleeves completely over their hands, which when combined with the sensory deprivation of the hood allows them to enter “cocoon mode”. A “nice, snug seal” keeps the wearer at the “perfect temperature while travelling”.

One internal pocket is claimed to be so roomy it can hold a magazine or tablet. Thomas Adams, co-founder of the Shoreditch and Oslo-based firm, said: “The biggest issue with long-haul travel that we wanted to address was the inability to get comfy and enjoy uninterrupted sleep in economy class.

“That’s when we came up with our revolutionary inflatable hood, which would prevent neck and backache and give full head support at every angle.”

The Inflatable Travel Jumpsuit was funded within two hours of launching on Kickstarter. It is due to go on sale in March. The company’s previous onesies include a £200 jumpsuit made from thick sleeping-bag material, where the legs zip together for the wearer to snuggle down.

The brand is popular with celebrities including Justin Bieber , Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid .
