Bakerloo line trains have begun stopping at Paddington Tube station again after a major revamp to pave the way for Crossrail.

Trains have been passing straight through the station since the beginning of April while engineers carried out an extensive renewal of escalators serving the Bakerloo line.

Workers have also been digging a new 165 metre pedestrian tunnel beneath the station to allow passengers to interchange between the Bakerloo line and new Crossrail platforms, which will become operational from 2018.

The work began on April 1.

TfL said Bakerloo line trains would begin to call at the station again in time for the Notting Hill Carnival which begins on Sunday, August 28.

But trains have already begun stopping at the station again from today.

TfL’s official account for the Bakerloo line tweeted: “Paddington: Bakerloo lines trains are now stopping. Thanks for your patience during escalator renewal and preparation for the Elizabeth line.”

On Friday, TfL unveiled a first look at trains to be used on the Elizabeth line, which will initially be known as Crossrail when the first section launches in May next year.
