Docklands Light Railway trains into central London were halted after a fire broke out in a tunnel.

Trains travelling to Bank station were suspended on Wednesday morning as officials responded to the fire alert.

London Fire Brigade said crews were investigating a strong smell of smoke in one of the tunnels outside the station.

A spokesman said firefighters were alerted shortly before 9am and discovered a small track fire had started inside one of the tunnels.

The fire was out before crews arrived at the scene, LFB said.

Transport for London said DLR services between Shadwell and Bank were suspended.

The rest of the station remained open.
