Commuters are being warned to expect rush hour delays on the District Line this evening after a person was taken ill on a train at Bromley-by-Bow.

Signalling problems in the Ealing area this morning caused further problems on the line today.

Severe delays were continuing this afternoon between Barking and Liverpool Street; Earls Court and Wimbledon; and Richmond and Ealing Broadway.

A Transport for London spokesman said it was working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible but said the nature of the line meant it may "take a while" to return to a normal service.

Frustrated commuters complained about the delays in posts on Twitter today.

Steve Gambadella said: "I've seen coma victims who move quicker than the @districtline."

Joel Combi said: "@districtline get your act together chaps. I've spent a total of 50 mins with you today and gone three stations."

Another tweeter said: "I think @TfL have monkeys doing the signalling today. CHAOS at Earls Court today. Three hour commute door to door. EXCELLENT WORK @districtline."
