This is a first look at a new TfL-produced map of the capital's rail network.

The document, much-anticipated by enthusiasts, makes adjustments to the recognisable guide, accounting for changes to operators.

Former National Rail lines between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt as well as Chingford are now coloured orange to signal the fact they have been taken over by London Overground - a Transport for London-run organisation.

A shuttle route between Romford and Upminster in outer east London, also currently run by Greater Anglia, turns orange for the same reason.

In a foretaste of Crossrail, main line services between London Liverpool Street and Shenfield in Essex will no longer be marked with a dotted grey line but highlighted instead with a dark blue colour similar to that of the Piccadilly line.

Until Crossrail takes it over in 2018, the line will be branded TfL Rail.

The changes, due to take effect from May 31, were revealed in a tweet posted by Ben Mathis, a London Overground worker who had the new leaflets delivered to his office.

TfL has not officially released the map yet.

A spokeswoman said: "People might start to notice posters at some stations. And we're beginning to roll out the maps over the next weeks and months so it's no surprise someone has something."
