A person has died at London Bridge Tube station after they were struck by a train.
Emergency services were called to a Northern line platform at around 3.10pm to reports someone had fallen onto the tracks, which sparked the station to be evacuated.
Shortly before 4pm, police confirmed a person had died and that the death is being treated as not suspicious.
A British Transport Police statement read: "We have been called to London Bridge station after reports that a person was struck by a train on a Northern Line platform. Police were alerted just after 3.10pm.
"Officers from BTP attended alongside the London Ambulance Service but a person has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are working to identify the person and inform their family.
"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for coroner."
Transport for London said the Northern line service had been suspended southbound between Camden Town and Kennington via Bank.
Witnesses told on social media how they were cleared from the station as armed police and fire crews raced to the scene.
Police said armed officers were first on the scene because of "usual patrols" at the station after some people questioned why they were deployed.
Nicole Benford tweeted: “Just been #evacuated from London Bridge tube station, 3 fire engines and armed police have now descended. #northernline.”
While Cherri Gilham posted: “London bridge stn. 25 police charged in. Smbulances (sic), fire engines cop cars screaming by.”
And Ben Kelly wrote: “Incident at London Bridge tube. Told to leave Northern Line platform immediately. Now fire engines arriving.”
