Oblivious cyclist sparks outrage by using train seats as makeshift bike rack

Oblivious: Passengers were apparently forced to stand because of the cyclist's actions

A cyclist has shocked Londoners with his “outrageous” method of storing his bike on a train.

Passengers were forced to stand after the rider used several seats as a makeshift rack for his muddy bike, witnesses said.

It comes a week after a man was snapped on a busy South West Trains commuter service with his bike resting across two seats.

The latest brazen incident happened on a Southern train into Victoria on Saturday afternoon.

After getting on at a south London station, the cyclist apparently wheeled his bike down the aisle, forcing people move out the way.

The incident is the second of its kind caught on camera in recent weeks

The passenger who photographed the incident told the Standard all the other seats in the carriage were taken, meaning some had to stand in the aisle or by the doors.

“I travel around every single day, and you see some pretty crazy things but this was outrageous,” she said.

“To be honest, I think it was his first time bringing a bike onto a train.

“At least I really hope it was just his first time. He had actually tried to do something similar in the first set of seats, then oddly decided to go to the next set.

“We thought surely when he realised the first set was a tight fit, he'd move back into the entry way to stand on the side, but no, he just went further into the carriage.”

The 25-year-old woman, who was travelling with her fiancé to meet friends, added: “We live in London. So we see the typical stuff: seat bags, manspreading, et cetera. This was a first!”

Responding to the post on Facebook, others voiced their outrage about the cyclist’s novel antics.

One wrote: “I've never understood why they have a bike and take the train. Use the bike!”

While user Chris Sepulchre said: “He's taking the p***!”
