Rush hour commuters on trains in an out of Paddington station are facing travel chaos this morning after damage to one of the lines.

Great Western Railway and Heathrow Connect or Express services are being delayed by up to half an hour due to the disruption.

Engineers are carrying out emergency repairs on a damaged track near Ealing Broadway, reducing the number of trains that can run on the lines.

A spokesman for Great Western Railway said a problem had been identified with the signals and points on one of the two Paddington-bound lines.

Currently, disruption is expected to continue until 10.30am.

Annoyed passenger Jonathan Baum tweeted: “Signalling problems in the Ealing Broadway area. Oooh, makes a nice change from Hayes and Harlington. #happyfriday”

Jess McCallum wrote: "3rd time this week this train is late due to human error...thanks @GWRHelp for making me have to leave home at 6.10am to get the early one! "

Customers are being advised that trains will still run, but at a reduced frequency.

Tickets are being accepted on the London Underground and local bus services.
