Power outage hits Stansted flights

Matthew Beard10 October 2013

Flights at Stansted airport were disrupted today by a power outage.

The problem, which was part of a general loss of power in the area, led to delays to outgoing and incoming flights at the Essex airport.

However, no flights had to be diverted and power was eventually restored.

A Stansted spokeswoman said: “There was a power outage, not just here but in the areas around as well. We do have emergency generators which kicked in, but for a time there was no power at all and people weren’t able to check in.

“Staff from offices came over to the terminal to help passengers. There have been some delays.”
