Commuters who travel to Waterloo from Reading and Windsor will benefit from thousands of extra seats under a new weekday timetable from Monday morning.
Workers from Berkshire are among those in line for a share of 57,000 additional spaces nationally on South West Trains services, the operator has said.
As well as extra weekday trains, there will also be more weekend services on the Hounslow loop and trains serving Reading and Weybridge will be longer on Saturday and Sunday.
But a number of other trains will be made shorter, including a handful of Woking-to-Waterloo services.
Tim Shoveller, the firm’s managing director, said: “Our improved timetable provides more than 57,000 additional seats for passengers right across the network and will provide a real boost for passengers using many of our services.
“In addition to the extra weekday services, we are providing a significant increase in our capacity at weekends, providing more seats and more services to many of our most popular destinations.
“Alongside the extra services we are continuing the £65million roll out of 108 additional and refurbished carriages which is allowing us to run longer trains on many of our busiest services.”
He added: “However, we are far from complacent and we know we can do much more to provide the extra capacity which is needed to provide for the increasing number of passengers on our services.”
There will be three extra Reading and Hounslow services during peak times – a 6.23am from Reading to Waterloo, an 8.27am from Hounslow to Waterloo and a 7.35pm from Waterloo to Reading.
