Passengers were forced to flee from a train after it caught fire in south London.
Sparks and smoke began to fly from the South Eastern train as it arrived at Denmark Hill station at around 6.10pm yesterday evening.
London Fire Brigade were called to the scene as the station was evacuated.
Passengers on board the train described chaotic scenes as the train carriage filled up with smoke.
Dave Dalrymple-Pryd, 25, who captured footage of the fire on his phone, said: “We were coming into the station. There was a bit of smoke and some flames, it was really hot by the window.
“When it got into the station smoke was going into the carriage everyone moved up towards the door. Someone shouted ‘Don’t run out of that door’.
“We jumped out – it kept flashing and there were puffs of flames like a very weak explosion.”
Another passenger said: “I noticed sparks from the bottom of the train, as we pull in I heard a low level bang then someone shouted our carriage was on fire.

“When we were off the train there was another low level bang and flames were coming off the carriage. I called 999 as do others.”

A spokeswoman for the LFB said platform two still remains closed off to the public. The blaze damaged a breaking mechanism on the train.

There are no reports of any injuries.
Passengers travelling through Denmark Hill have been told to expect delays for up to 30 minutes. London Overground and South Eastern rail services run through the station.
Widespread delays are currently being reported on the rest of the network.
Fire officers are investigating the cause of the blaze.
