Victoria Tube station evacuated and line suspended after woman hit by train

Victoria Tube station was evacuated on Monday afternoon after a woman was hit by a train.

The busy London station was shut to passengers at around 1pm after the incident at the northbound platform.

British Transport Police and paramedics rushed to the station after reports a woman had been hit by a Tube train.

A police spokesman said the woman’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

He said: “It’s currently being treated as non-suspicious.”

The station had reopened by 1.45pm.

Trains were suspended until on a vast swathe of the Victoria line from Brixton to Warren Street following the incident.

There were severe delays on the rest of the route.

London Ambulance Service incident response officer Nick Goh confirmed they had been called to the station at 1pm.

He said: "The first of our medics arrived in three minutes of the call coming into our control room.

"We worked with our colleagues at London Fire Brigade and British Transport Police to treat a woman for a head injury. She was then take to a major trauma centre as a priority."
