'You hit me f***ing cab': Taxi driver's foul-mouthed rant at cyclist after Piccadilly Circus collision

Mark Chandler26 October 2016

Footage has emerged of a taxi driver launching into an explosive, foul-mouthed tirade at a cyclist after a collision in central London.

The incident, recorded on Monday morning in Piccadilly Circus by fellow biker Ross Holdsworth, shows a minor prang between the two vehicles as they pull away from a set of traffic lights.

Sharing it on YouTube, Mr Holdsworth wrote: “Speaks for itself. Cabbie overtakes, cuts up cyclist then swears his head off.”

A few seconds after the collision, both men stop and the Hailo taxi driver gets out of his cab, seemingly to confront the bike-rider.

The driver, who denies cutting up the cyclist, starts angrily asking: “What are you doing? What you hitting my cab for?”

“You drove into him, mate,” says Mr Holdsworth.

The taxi driver then starts shouting: “I didn’t drive into no one, I’m coming up here.

“You hit me f***ing cab. Pull over there, we’ll call the police.”

Mr Holdworth warns him: “It’s alright, I’ve got a camera, mate.”

“I’ve got a camera in here,” yells the driver. “I ain’t cut in front of nobody.”

“You f*** off,” he tells Mr Holdsworth.

The video then appears to show the driver repeatedly shouting and swearing while gesticulating at the cyclist in the middle of the street.

A spokesman for Hailo said: "At Hailo, we care passionately about all road users. Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers and those on the road.

"We have already been in contact with the Hailo customer concerned.

"Although Black Cab drivers are entrepreneurs, we expect any drivers associated with Hailo to act professionally and safely at all times.

"In this specific incident, which we have investigated further, we have spoken to the driver in question and we have now removed him from our network.’
