An astonishing video of a baby aged just seven weeks old appearing to say “hello” has been viewed more than a million times on YouTube.

The adorable clip shows Cillian McCann repeating the word to his 36-year-old mother filmed at the family home in Belfast.

The tot surprised parents Toni and Paul McCann as toddlers do not normally say their first word until they are aged 12 months old.

His mum said she knew he had been trying to communicate for a while.

The proud parent has been inundated with messages since she posted the video to her Facebook page.

Mrs McCann told the Daily Mail: “If I hadn't have videoed it I'm sure people wouldn't have believed me. I don't think I would have believed it myself.

“After that he said it again to my daughter Eva although it wasn't as clear. When he has been focused and interacting with me since that day I have been telling him "I love you" and I can see he is trying to copy that.”
