A BBC newsreader didn't miss a beat when she was caught unawares with her hairbrush at the start of a bulletin.

Carole Walker was caught on putting the finishing touches to her hairstyle before delivering the business headlines this morning.

Her handbag was proudly on display on the desk in front of her as she prepared for her appearance on air.

But the journalist remained calm, placing her hairbrush below the desk before facing the camera and introducing herself.

Journalist Barry Malone tweeted after the mishap: "Smooth. BBC's @carolewalkercw caught brushing her hair on air, but barely misses a beat."
