Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has come under fire for 'humiliating' his young nephew on social media, telling him "boys don't wear princess dresses".

Hamilton starts the video by looking at the camera, saying: "I'm so sad right now...Look at my nephew..."

He then turns the camera to see the young boy, who can be seen in a princess dress waving a toy wand, to which Hamilton says: "Why are you wearing a princess dress? Is that what you got for Christmas?"

Hamilton then ends the video by shouting: "Boys don't wear princess dresses!"

The racing champion was recently criticised for his part in the Paradise Papers scandal.

The 32-year-old received a £3.3million VAT refund when he imported his Bombardier Challenger 605 into the Isle of Man from Canada in 2013, according to the papers.

A number of people took to social media to criticise the Formula 1 star for his most recent actions.

Twitter user Jake Johnstone, said: "Lewis Hamilton likes to shout in the faces of kids to make them feel uncomfortable when they express themselves differently."

Another, SoozUK, attacked Mr Hamilton's apparent hypocrisy, posting a picture of him in effeminate clothing.

Critics attacked Mr Hamilton for 'humiliating' the child and trying to enforce heteronormative ideas of gender.

Newly released Government plans suggest drag queens be brought into nursery schools for storytelling sessions to teach children from the age of two about issues such as gender fluidity.

The Standard approached Mr Hamilton for comment.
