A 29-year-old mother has died after travelling to Turkey for a “bum lift” operation.

Leah Cambridge was undergoing the surgery, made famous by multiple reality TV stars, at Elite Aftercare in Izmir according to reports.

It is thought the mother-of-three died in the operating theatre after collapsing shortly after the start of the procedure – though the exact cause of her death is unknown.

Her partner Scott Franks shared emotional tributes to Ms Cambridge on social media and shared updates of the tragedy.

On Monday he wrote: “How can this happen am I dreaming?”

Later that day he stated he was going to Turkey to fly Miss Cambridge’s body back home.

The 31-year-old scaffolder wrote: “Two days ago I was happy. Now I’m a broken man and will be forever. I’m hurt so bad and this is only the start. My life has crashed.”

He also added that he and Leah would have been married within “the next few years” and said: “Instead I’m gonna have to plan a funeral.”

After sharing a video on Wednesday morning, of Miss Cambridge with her sons, Mr Franks wrote: “I’m absolutely heartbroken.”

But said he will stay strong “for my boys”.

“People need to be aware of situations that can happen with this treatment,” The Sun quoted him as saying.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: "Our staff are assisting the family of a British woman who has died in Turkey and are in contact with the local authorities."

The Brazilian butt lift surgery involves taking fat from other areas of the body, such as the waist or stomach, and then putting it into the buttocks.

A warning posted on the Elite Aftercare website, where it has been reported Miss Cambridge went to for the surgery, reads: "Surgery should not be taken lightly as there are risks in all procedures.”

Another post on the website says: “Complications can rarely occur. Although uncommon, areas of concern can include; bleeding, infection, anaesthesia problems, fat necrosis and decreased sensation."

According to the clinic’s site, TOWIE stars Lauren Goodger and Amber Dowding, as well as Chloe Khan, from The X Factor and Celebrity Big Brother, have all undergone cosmetic procedures at the clinic.

Its Instagram page states that the Brazilian butt lift “max package” costs £5,000 including aftercare.

The Standard has contacted Elite Aftercare for comment.
