The UK reached a grim milestone as there have been more than seven million Covid infections since the start of the pandemic, according to government data.

It was revealed as Covid cases rocketed to 41,192 on Monday.

As the UK tries to get back to normal, Londoners have headed back to the office in their droves this week.

As new Covid infections soared to more than 41,000, the government said a further 45 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday.

This brings the UK total to 133,274.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 157,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

But the vaccine rollout continues to be a great success with 91,725,196 Covid jabs given in the UK.

Of the jabs, 48,270,113 were first doses and 43,455,083 were second doses.

The latest figures have come as the UK awaits to find out whether the four scientific advisors recommend children aged 12 to 15 for the Covid vaccine.
