A group of fashion designers, retailers and politicians including Red or Dead founder Wayne Hemingway today launched an event at the House of Commons to encourage shoppers to buy British.

The Brompton bikes boss, tailor Timothy Everest MBE and a host of other British brands under the leadership of entrepreneur Mr Hemingway are promoting Buy British Day, taking place on October 3 during the Best of Britannia festival in Clerkenwell.

Supported by Islington South MP Emily Thornberry, it will also include smaller retailers such as jewellery designer Jessica de Lotz.

Mr Hemingway said: “Britain leads the world when it comes to design. If we can make more local manufacturing ingenuity available to designers we can go from strength to strength.”
