This is the heart-stopping moment a driver narrowly avoids a motorway smash when he spun out of control.
The motorist leaves a slip road and tries to reach the centre lane, but apparently fails to spot a nearby car. He swerves at the last minute and goes into a high-speed spin.
The driver, in a red Vauxhall, spins out of control back into the slip road within metres of the crash barrier.
The car then spins back into the middle lane before a final 180 degree flip leaves it facing oncoming traffic.
Thanks to a waiting lorry the driver is able to manoeuver the car to face the correct way before stopping on the hard shoulder.
A male driver is seen emerging from the car and walking around to the boot, possibly to check for any damage.
Lorry driver Andy Cowan was behind the driver when the dramatic incident unfolded at junction 3 on the M5 northbound.
He said: “As he joined the motorway I didn’t take much notice but when he started to pull straight across the lane into the path of the focus I thought this is going to get nasty.
“When the driver lost control I started to put on my brakes and luckily the lorry was empty so I didn’t need to brake as sharp.
“I eventually came to halt with the hazards on while the car driver sorted himself out and carried on his way.
“It could have been a hell of a lot worse.”
The footage was posted on the HGV Dash Cam Footage Facebook page where it has received 24,000 views.
