Eddie Izzard is being praised by fans for being addressed with the pronouns She and Her while appearing on television.
The 58-year-old comedian was a guest on Sky Arts’ show Portrait Artist of the Year - and was addressed by she/her for one of the first times on television.
Izzard confirmed in 2017 she was transgender, telling the Hollywood reporter: "I am essentially transgender. I have boy mode and girl mode. I do feel I have boy genetics and girl genetics."
Viewers of the show, which aired on Thursday, called the comedian a “trailblazer” of the LGBTQI+ community.
One fan said: “Just watched Portrait Artist of the Year with Eddie Izzard...first public outing as she/her (gender fluid) how refreshing.”
Scott Standing wrote: “Someone I respect as a comedian but don’t personally know wants to be known by feminine pronouns which makes zero difference to me but could help other people feel more comfortable sharing how they’d like to be spoken to / about. What’s not to like?"
And another gushed: “Just discovered Eddie Izzard now uses she/her pronouns love you Eddie, thanks for being a trail blazer.”
“I can’t tell you what she means to me as a comic,” comedian Shappi Khorsandi wrote.
Colby Gordon added: “I love Eddie Izzard and hope she gets everything she wants in this life.”
The show sees emerging artists compete to be named the best in competition. Izzard sat as a subject on the show.
During her appearance, Izzard tells the artists: “I think everyone should and must make life an adventure.”
